Welcome to Leicestershire Food Links

MELTON MOWBRAY COUNTRY FAIR 2010

After the successful return of Melton Mowbray's Country Fair this year, we are eager to start to organise next year's show
and would like to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in 2010 whether as an exhibitor or a volunteer.

The date will be Sunday 27th June 2010.

We have spaces for local entertainers,  rural craftworkers (especially demonstrating)
handmade crafts, local food producers and local businesses.
We would also like to introduce other attractions which we did not have an opportunity to organise this year.
So we would be very interested to hear from local organisations and groups who would like to help us with new ideas.
In particular local heritage and plant societies, local youth groups and schools and local smallholders and food producers and environmental groups.
Also we would like to develop the vintage and veteran vehicles section. Any local owners who would like to join us for the
day would be very well received..
If you think you have something that would fit in with the feel of the Country Fair please give
Sallie Hooper a call on 01509 881386 to discuss further.

The Big Lunch
The Big Lunch launched this week and it's official that Sunday 19 July is when communities all over Britain will sit down together for a
local food lunch. The project is the vision of Tim Smit, the main driver behind the renowned Eden Project in South West England.

He has won the support of the National Trust, The RHS and government to run the initiative which aims to bring all 61 million people in the UK together, to bring to the table whatever they can offer; from food grown and cooked themselves, to music, art, and entertainment, in the country's biggest ever street party.  This is about 'Human Warming' - finding our common ground, claiming back a sense of community, and sharing life with our neighbours, in the face of economic and social doom and gloom.
