j0442635-300NEW SPECIALITY BREAD COURSE

A full day course learning to bake a selection of speciality breads using a wood fired oven at Whetstone Pastures Farm, Whetstone. Sourdough, focaccia and speciality rolls are on the menu with our resident baker - Dilly Boase. Dilly has recently returned from a two month tour of Italy researching local breads after winning the Geoffrey Roberts Award last year.

The course is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of bread making but wish to increase their knowledge and the selection of breads they can bake with confidence.

Date: Saturday 25th September 2010 10.00 am - 4.00pm

Cost: £75.00 for a full day of baking and local lunch (10% discount for members of Leicestershire Food Links)

 
Foundation Food Safety Training - Book Now

Tea and Coffee providedOur next Food Safety Training course will be held on Sunday 10th October 2010 with our accredited trainer, Chris. The course will run between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm at Brocklebys Farmshop, Asfordby Hill, Melton Mowbray and is designed for those working in the catering industry with plenty of opportunity to talk to other participants about food matters over lunch.

Leicestershire Food Fortnight is back!

belgrave hall food fairsmallThe Leicestershire Food Fortnight 2010 will be running from Saturday 18th September until Sunday 3rd October 2010 and a new brochure Leicestershire Food Fortnight 2010 has been compiled to give you lots of information on the amazing range of food events that have been arranged to celebrate the Fortnight. There will also be updates on new events not included in the brochure on the GoLeicestershire website as well as details about two new competitions run by Leicestershire Promotions - Leicestershire Breakfast and Leicestershire Menu which will run during the fortnight.

This year's theme is "Taste Something Different - Taste Leicestershire!"

We are still looking for producers, restaurants, cafes, pubs, schools, colleges. charities, community groups and individuals who would be interested in "getting involved" by organising food events to celebrate all that's good to eat and drink in Leicestershire. All events will be added to the Leicestershire Food Fortnight 2010 brochure as well as businesses using local produce.

We are regularly asked what you have to do to get a stall at our FARMA accredited Farmers Markets. Our best piece of advice is to first read our rules and conditions here carefully to make sure you can fulfill them. They will give you an idea of what we are trying to achieve with local food - You will also find the prices for our stalls at the back. Once you are happy your produce is acceptable why not give us a call for more information or fill in our new producer application here.
